Tax Credit Extensions - Looks Like it is Happening!
November 2009
Well, it is looking like we may get an extension and expansion on the tax credits.
“Nov. 4 (Bloomberg) -- The U.S. Senate may approve as early as today a $45 billion plan to expand a tax credit for first- time homebuyers, extend jobless benefits and provide tax refunds to money-losing companies.

The Senate voted 97-1 to end debate on the measure and clear the way for final approval. The Senate is likely to pass the legislation and send it to the House, where Democratic leaders predicted it would be quickly forwarded to President Barack Obama to be signed into law.”

Washington State Finally Has Licensed Inspectors!
September 2009
Few realize that our neighbors to the north had no home inspection licensing laws until September 1, 2009. Prior to this time virtually anyone could perform home inspections.

Home inspectors are now required to be licensed with the Washington State Department of Licensing.

This is a great first move, but we will hope that it is only a first. There are many weaknesses in this law, the foremost of which is the fact that there are no insurance requirements. How the State of Washington could pass a home inspection law, intended to protect consumers, yet require no insurance or bond is beyond us. We can only hope that they will eventually come to their senses in that regard.

For now, you can find more information concerning the WA State Home Inspector law at the following websites:
